I think it will come under the new disfellowshipping offence of "Brazen Conduct" details of which can be found in chapter 5 paragraph 9 of the secret elders manual of which I have a copy and I'm a girl!!!.

Celebrating birthday: ground for disfellowshipping?
by behemot ina friend of mine (inactive) is being threatened with a judicial committee because he took his children to schoolmates' birthdays and because he celebrated his wife's birthday.. do you know if celebrating birthday is sufficient ground for setting a judicial committee?.
the ks2010 does not mention birthdays specifically, and i feel like it would be quite a stretch to make it fall under the "apostasy" category (subcategory "celebrating false religion holidays" or "idolatry").. what do you think?.

In your hall, how many converted to a JW from door to door in the last 10 years?
by just n from bethel inin mine that would be a big fat zero.. there have been a handful of teenage baptisms of jw children.. one that really was a foreign language group transfer.. but in the last ten years - there has not been one single convert from the d2d ministry.. btw - my congregation has had over 10 pioneers (real ones that actually do d2d, including elders) for the last decade.. not one.
10 x 70 hours a month x 120 months = 84,000 hours ... results = 0.. also most of our pioneers are pretty good at the door - some half way decent teachers.
one is sub co and another often is called to teach ... wait for it ... pioneer school!!!.

Me, I was converted through d2d. I only brought in 2 people but both were friends prior to me becoming JW.

The uncomfortable truth about mind control: Is free will simply a myth?

We have a guy over here in UK called Derren Brown. He "persuaded" professional people to believe in God just by touching them, believe he had been abducted by aliens, read their minds, speak to their dead friends and relatives by passing on convincing facts and then ultimately he got 4 people to individually commit an armed robbery. He does loads of other amazing stuff but fully admits to not being psychic or having any special powers whatsover. He used to belong to a happy clappy evangelical branch of christendom but is now an atheist.
My point is, although we have free will Derren Brown has proved most but not all of us can be manipulated to do not just the will of others with no knowledge or awareness of being manipulated but something that actually goes against what we would normally allow ourselves to do. It is the ones doing the manipulation that should be held accountable not the willing puppets. The GB have harnessed people's general need to "belong" feel loved, to feel slightly better/knowledgable/qualified or in some way special. And then they kept us in this maleable state using fear until something woke us up.

What makes the GB better than the average JW???
by shadowolf inat a past convention i went to a bethel meeting during the lunch break.
it was geared towards young people who wanted to dedicate themselves to bethel service...yuck.
anyway, as the boring program went on, an older brother spoke of how, if you went to bethel, you would be living with the gb.

If they are having regular chats with the big man upstairs it would feel like they had some sort of celebrity status to the mere mortals that follow them. However, knowing that they don't and they are making it all up as they go along it kinda makes you feel a bit sick.

Am I wrong or would I have better chances for "Paradise earth" if I had never been exposed to the so called "Truth"?
by KristiKay ini was listening to a guy on youtube, (21 crosscheck 21) and i thought he brought up a pretty valid point.
he says jws should stop preaching immediatly because according to them if i've never heard the "truth" then god would read my heart and i would be resurrected and given the chance to live forever.
so basicly if some idiot knocks on my door trying to tell me the "good news" and for whatever reason i slam the door in their face, i've just condemed myself to eternal nothingness, but if they never came to the door in the first place, i'd be ok, or at least given the chance to pet lions forever?

Practising JWs only hope they might be saved, no guarantees. The wages sin pays is death, so, as I thought my toxic parents would be alive at the big A they would be killed and I would live. Now they are very old and more likely to die before Armageddon so will therefore be resurrected but me, according to JW doctrine who wasted most of my adult life pushing their filthy magazines tire out minutes befoe the big A will now die. That's fair!!!
